2023 WC Qualifiers: New victories for Serbia and Slovenia

In the 2nd round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, Serbia and Slovenia have celebrated new victories over Greece and Estonia, respectively.

Thursday night has been victorious for the AdmiralBet ABA League countries’ national teams. While Serbia have prevailed over Greece at home in Štark Arena in Belgrade in overtime, Slovenia have prevailed convincingly over Estonia at home in Zlatorog Arena in Celje.

Serbia have started the game against Greece well and were up by 6 points at halftime. In the final quarter of the regular part of the game, the Greek side fought back and took the game into overtime, but that’s where Serbia dominated the court again and won eventually with the score of 100:94. For the winning side, former Mega MIS player Nikola Jokić scored 28 points, while former Mega MIS and Paritzan NIS player Ognjen Jaramaz followed him with 15 on his record.

In the other game of the night, Slovenia have prevailed over Estonia at home in Celje in a game, that could be well described as a one-way traffic. The hosts pulled away in the opening half already and departed to the big break with the advantage of 18 points. In the second half, they have firmly held on to their lead and prevailed with the score of 104:83. Former Union Olimpija players Luka Dončić and Goran Dragić led the way in scoring for Slovenia, as the first scored 25 points and the latter 19.
