EuroBasket 2022: Victories for BiH and Slovenia

On the opening day of the EuroBasket 2022 tournament, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia have grabbed their first triumphs, by prevailing over Hungary and Lithuania, respectively. Montenegro suffered a defeat against Turkey.

In Group B, Bosnia and Herzegovina have prevailed over Hungary in their EuroBasket 2022 opener, after a comeback. The Hungarian side have opened the game in a better fashion, as they went up by 6 points (17:23). By halftime, BiH managed to cut the gap to only 1 point and in the second half, they turned the game completely upside-down. By the end of the third quarter, BiH led by 10 points and eventually prevailed 95:85. Former Cedevita Zagreb players Džanan Musa and Jusuf Nurkić, the latter also played for Zadar in the regional competition, led the way in scoring for the winning side with 19 points apiece.

In the same group, Slovenia have faced Lithuania in Cologne and scored a big win against one of arguably the best teams of the tournament. It has been a game, where Slovenia have been in front for the majority of the clash. Lithuania have gone in front for a couple of minutes in the second half, but quickly, the squad led by head coach Aleksander Sekulić has come up with a brilliant finish, to prevail 92:85 in the end. For Slovenia, Mike Tobey was atop of the list of scorers, as he scored 24 points, while he was followed by former Olimpija Ljubljana player Goran Dragić who added 19.

In Group A, Montenegro fought a tight game against Turkey until the very ending and eventually suffered a defeat with the final score of 72:68 after a thrilling finish. For Montenegro, former Budućnost VOLI big man Bojan Dubljević was the most efficient, as he scored 18 points. Former Olimpija Ljubljana and Mega MIS player Marko Simonović followed him with 13.
