EuroBasket 2022: Croatia and Serbia failed to reach the quarter-finals

Croatia and Serbia suffered early elimination in the knockout stage of the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket as they both lost their Round of 16 games.

Croatia and Serbia suffered early elimination in the knockout stage of the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket as they both lost their Round of 16 games.

Croatia were defeated by Finland - 94:86. The two sides were all tied at 77:77, with 5 minutes remaining on the game clock, but then Finland made the key 10:0 run to gain a double-digit lead.

The man of the match was Finish star player Lauri Markkanen who scored 43 points today. On the other side, Bojan Bogdanović was the top scorer in Croatian team with 23 points.

Serbia’s title hopes of winning the gold ended this Sunday evening as well as they suffered a defeat against Italy in Round of 16 – 94:86.

Italian team opened the 4th quarter with the key 16:2 run during which they scored some big 3-point shots to gain confidence in critical moment of the game.

Italian point guard Marco Spissu made 22 points for the winning side, including 6 three-pointers, while on the other side Nikola Jokić scored 32 points for Serbia.
