Crvena zvezda mts have a chance to make history in the upcoming season as if they manage to defend the regional throne they will become the team with most championship titles in AdmiralBet ABA League history.

The last season was truly something special for the red-and-whites as they completed their second three-peat by beating their arch rivals Partizan NIS in one of the most thrilling Finals in league history. Crvena zvezda mts triumphed in the final series by 3-2 and claimed their 6th regional trophy.

The reigning champions have one and only goal ahead of the new season – to become the first team in league history to win 7 championships. That won’t be easy at all, but Crvena zvezda mts have once again formed a very strong team which is filled with top-class players.

But, before we start talking about the players, let’s firstly mention the biggest change that occurred in Crvena zvezda mts team. Club legend Dejan Radonjić is no longer the first team head coach, while the Belgrade side appointed former FMP Meridian and Cibona head coach Vladimir Jovanović to replace him. Jovanović is considered as very talented coach and this will be his chance to shine at the big stage.

As someone who’s been working in AdmiralBet ABA League for some time now, Jovanović knows most of the players from the current roster. Even though Zvezda have made some major changes in the first team.

Crvena zvezda mts have stayed without some of the leading players from the previous season like Nikola Kalinić, Nathan Wolters and Dejan Davidovac, but 8 players that won the title couple of months ago are still  in the red-and-white team. Branko Lazić, Ognjen Kuzmić, Ognjen Dobrić, Stefan Marković, Luka Mitrović, Nikola Ivanović, Stefan Lazarević and Nikola Topić have all remained in the team, while they will play together with 7 newcomers that arrived in the club this summer.

The most famous name out of those 7 is definitely Nemanja Nedović who has returned to his childhood club after 10 years. Nedović has always been one of the fans' favorites and his first home game in the new season will definitely be quite emotional.

Crvena zvezda mts have penned deals with two more domestic players - former Mega MIS player and 2021 ABA League MVP Filip Petrušev and former Igokea m:tel star player Dalibor Ilić.

The other four newcomers are foreign players. The Belgrade powerhouse signed former Budućnost VOLI center Hassan Martin, who played at the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four last season with Olympiacos Piraues, while after that they brought in former Frutti Extra Bursaspor star player John Holland and former Olimpia Milano member Benjamin Bentil. The last new player that arrived in the team this summer was the last-season NBL MVP Jaylen Adams.

As you can see, big names have come to Belgrade over the summer and together with the last year’s champions they will try to continue Zvezda’s winning tradition and bring the historic 7th regional championship into the red-and-white home.
