WC Qualifiers: Four games, just as many victories

In Friday’s FIBA World Cup Qualifiers games, all four of the AdmiralBet ABA League countries - BiH, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia – were victorious.

In Group I, Serbia have travelled to Newcastle to meet Great Britain and are returning home with a new pair of points, and they did it fully deservedly, as they have controlled the flow of the game throughout the 40 minutes of play. After the first quarter, they have been up by 1 point, at halftime by 4 and after 30 minutes by 6. In the end, they have celebrated a win with the final score of 74:68. For Serbia, Dušan Ristić led the way in scoring with 15 points on his record. Danilo Anđušić had 14. 

On the road in Tel Aviv, Slovenia have made a big step towards the World Cup, as they have come up with a win over Israel in a game, where they have been on top for the majority of playing time. The squad, led by head coach Aleksander Sekulić from the bench, were up by 4 points at halftime and they continued to increase their lead towards the end, when the score was 62:75. For Slovenia, Miha Lapornik and Cedevita Olimpija member Edo Murić were on top of the list of scorers with 16 points on their records each.

On the road in Pardubice, Montenegro have faced the Czech Reoublic and scored an important away win in the battle for the FIBA World Cup. They have been in front almost throughout the game and have in the end deservedly grabbed a pair of points. By halftime, they have been up by 9 points and by 16 after 30 minutes. In the end, they have prevailed with the final score of 65:56. For Montenegro, Nemanja Radović scored 15 points and Vladimir Mihailović 14.

Bosnia and Herzegovina have faced Hungary at home in Sarajevo and after a game, that could have gone either way, they celebrated a win with the final score of 83:78. BiH were in front already by 14 points by halftime (52:38), but in the third quarter the Hungarians fought back and led by 2 points while entering the final period in which eventually the hosts prevailed. For BiH, Budućnost VOLI players Kenan Kamenjaš (20 points) and Aleksandar Lazić (16) were the most efficient this time around.
