AdmiralBet ABA League Round 14, Thursday, 5 January 2023:

SPLIT – BUDUĆNOST VOLI

Where? Split Sports Hall, Split

When? 17:00

Story of the game: In the opening game of the AdmiralBet ABA League Round 14, Split will host Budućnost VOLI at home in their Split Sports Hall.

Budućnost VOLI have demonstrated excellent shape lately, as they have won 4 games in a row and are coming to Gripe in pursuit of the fifth. On the other side, Split have different plans. They have lost their last game and will try to do their best to get back on the winning track.

And the game is as important as ever for both teams, since Split are currently on a 4:9 record, and need to keep winning in order to keep away from the danger zone near the bottom of the AdmiralBet ABA League standings. On the other side, Budućnost VOLI need to improve their 9:4 record after 13 rounds, so that they could keep believing in taking a place in the top of the standings when the Regular Season ends.

However, games between Split and Budućnost VOLI have always been exciting at Gripe and the outcome is impossible to predict. In 9 games played between the two sides, Split have prevailed 5 times and Budućnost VOLI 4 times.

What are your predictions like?

Match-up in focus: The match-up in the limelight will be the one between Shannon Shorter of Split on one side and Trae Bell-Haynes on the other. The two Americans have been leading their respective squads in scoring so far this season, so a lot would depend on this head-to-head battle as far as the game’s outcome is concerned. While Shannon Shorter has been averaging 18.3 points per game so far, Trae Bell-Haynes has been averaging 14.5. How will it end this time?

Head-to-head score in the regional league: In total 6:13; In Split 5:4.
