Slaven Rimac is the new head coach of KK Split, the 48-year-old bench boss signed a two-year contract with the club on the Adriatic Sea. Rimac has rich playing and coaching experience behind him, an interesting fact is that Rimac's father, Matan, was the Jugoplastika head coach from 1979 to 1981.

- Everything has been resolved and signed, the reason our agreement took a touch longer than expected was more due to some technical reasons rather than the club or I having doubts about the deal. I am happy to come to Split, this is a big challenge for me after the episodes in Cibona, Cedevita Olimpija, and then working with Andrea Trinchieri at Bayern Munich for two years. I'm motivated to work independently, I'm joining a young team that needs a leader. Split has a lot of potential, but the road ahead will not be easy. I am looking forward to the start of the training camp. The players under contract and those who will join us must know what awaits the team, they must be ready for quality training sessions and quality performances. Basketball returned to Split in a rather nice way, with a big bang. We have to maintain that and raise it to another level. I sincerely hope that we will do so - said Rimac.
