ABA Super Cup is back with the tournament in Podgorica

The fourth ABA Super Cup in the history will take place between 18 and 20 September 2023 in Podgorica, where eight teams will battle for the first trophy of the season on the court of Morača Sports Hall.

In accordance with the results made in the 2022/23 season, Partizan Mozzart Bet, Budućnost VOLI, Cedevita Olimpija, FMP Soccerbet, Mega MIS, Zadar and SC Derby have confirmed their participation at the tournament. After a decision by Crvena zvezda Meridianbet, not to participate at the 2023 Super Cup, Igokea m:tel have got and used the right to join the event.

The competition numbers, determined by the ABA Super Cup draw are:

1. Partizan Mozzart Bet
2. Budućnost Voli
3. FMP Soccerbet
4. Cedevita Olimpija
5. Igokea m:tel
6. SC Derby
7. Zadar
8. Mega MIS

This gives us the following Quarterfinal pairs and schedule:

12.00: Cedevita Olimpija - Igokea m:tel
15.00: Partizan Mozzart Bet - Mega MIS    
18.00: Budućnost Voli – Zadar
21.00: FMP Soccerbet - SC Derby

During the Super Cup in Podgorica, each team will play three games in just as many days, as all the teams will be fighting for the final standings (from 1st to 8th place).

The first ABA Super Sup took place in Bar at the start of the 2017/18 season, when Cedevita won the trophy, beating Budućnost VOLI in the Final 78:69. FMP Soccerbet, Igokea m:tel, Mega MIS, Cibona, Mornar-Barsko zlato and Partizan Mozzart Bet have also participated at the tournament.

The next season in Laktaši, Crvena zvezda Meridianbet beat Budućnost VOLI in the Final, with the score of 89:75. Mornar-Barsko zlato, Partizan Mozzart Bet, Igokea m:tel, Cedevita, Zadar and Petrol Olimpija were also among the participating teams.

The third ABA Super Cup take place in Zagreb, at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, when Partizan Mozzart Bet triumphed in the final against Cedevita Olimpija (99:77). Mega MIS, Crvena zvezda Meridianbet, Koper Primorska, FMP Soccerbet, Budućnost VOLI and Cibona have also taken part in the tournament.

The following ABA Super Cup in Podgorica will be the first one after a break, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and will represent the best possible introduction for the 23rd season of the regional league, that is scheduled to start on the last weekend of September.
