Split have a new big guy in their roster as they signed a contract with American center Derek Funderburk Jr.
During his college days, Funderburk Jr. played for the Northwest Florida State College and for the North Carolina State University. In 2021, he went overseas to start his pro career in Avtodor Saratov, while later that season he moved to Paris Basketball.
Last summer he signed for Reggio Emilia, however he left the Italian team already in November to join Hapoel Eliat for which he played in the rest of the 2022/23 season.
Derek Funderburk Jr. is the 5th new player to join Split in the current transfer window, after Lovro Gnjidić (Cedevita Olimpija), Krešimir Ljubičić (Cibona), Cameron Shelton (Loyola Marymount University) and Toni Perković (Orleans Loiret).
