Igokea m:tel look quite stronger than in the previous season and be quite sure that the boys from Laktaši may raise some real noise in the 2023/24 campaign.
Igokea m:tel failed to reach the AdmiralBet ABA League Playoffs in the last season and that was something that raised the alarm inside the club’s office. The team management started working hard as soon as the 2022/23 championship was over and Igokea m:tel was one of the first team’s in the region to start signing new players.
But, before introducing all the new names that arrived to Laktaši this summer, let’s firstly mention all the others who remained in the roster.
For the beginning, head coach Vladimir Jovanović will still be leading the team. He took over Igokea m:tel in January this year and this should be his full season with the blue-and-whites.
Jovanović and the team’s management have decided to keep 7 players from the last season in the roster, including team captain Marko Jošilo, then Dragan Milosavljević, Haris Delalić, Nikola Marić, Kosta Kondić, Ognjen Stanković and finally Mario Nakić, who has recovered from injury and is fully ready to return on the court.
The big reinforcement for this team is the return of Nikola Tanasković, who was one of Igokea m:tel’s best players in the previous season before going on a loan to Rio Breogan.
And now, let’s talk about the new players who joined the club this summer. Igokea m:tel penned deals with two of their former players - Edin Atić (Budućnost VOLI) and Jackie Carmichael (Gaziantep), they also signed excellent shooter Marko Jeremić from Cedevita Olimpija, while the Laktaši troops strengthened their frontcourt with former Budućnost VOLI center Zoran Nikolić who spent the last season in ESSM Le Portel.
On top of that, the club agreed terms with American point guard Stefan Moody (Chorale Roanne) and they promoted young Dušan Makitan from the youth team.
Finally, the latest team’s signing this summer was quite special as the two-time ABA League champion and 2018 ABA League Playoffs MVP Nemanja Gordić has returned to the club after 9 years.
Together, they will try to mark the year in which Igokea m:tel celebrate their 50th birthday in the best possible way. Perhaps, they might clinch the upcoming ABA Super Cup and therefore get the best possible birthday present.
