Story of the game: In the opening round of the new season, FMP Soccerbet will host Krka on Monday evening.
If they could choose any opponent for the start of the new season, the Panthers would probably choose Krka as they have a perfect home-court score against the team from Novo mesto. FMP Soccerbet have so far played 7 home games against Krka in the history of the regional league and the Panthers have won all 7 of them. Therefore, everyone in the Belgrade team hopes that this streak will continue and that they will start the 2023/24 campaign with a win.
On the other side, Krka have returned to the top-tier of the regional basketball after winning the NLB ABA League 2 championship last season. The boys from Novo mesto have kept most of the last-season roster and they now want to show that this team is worthy of playing in the best basketball league in the region.
Match-up in focus: Jordan Walker joined FMP Soccerbet this summer and was projected to be the engine of this new Panthers crew. Walker was one of the best players of his team at the 2023 ABA Super Cup, so he is definitely someone to look at in the 2023/24 season.
Meanwhile, Krka have managed to keep Jan Špan in their roster and he should be the leader of the green-and-white troops in the 2023/24 campaign. Špan was one of the heroes of the last-season’s NLB ABA League 2 Final Tournament in which he helped Krka win the promotion to the AdmiralBet ABA League.
