Story of the game: Belgrade’s Štark Arena will host so many basketball spectacles in the 2023/24 season and one of them is scheduled for this Sunday evening when Crvena zvezda Meridianbet are about to host Cedevita Olimpija in this week’s NLB Match of the Round.
Crvena zvezda Meridianbet could not have hoped for a better start of the new season. The red-and-whites opened the 2023/24 campaign with a big road win against Igokea m:tel last weekend in AdmiralBet ABA League, while on Thursday evening they defeated LDLC Asvel in packed Štark Arena in the first round of the new Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season.
On the other side, Cedevita Olimpija has had some ups and downs in the opening games of the 2023/24 season. After having an unsuccessful ABA SuperCup campaign in which they lost all three games, the Dragons opened the new AdmiralBet ABA League season with a narrow home win against Mega MIS. But, during the last week, they suffered another defeat, this time in their BTK EuroCup opener in the away match against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
The games between these two teams have always been super exciting and the latest example is their previous clash in Belgrade when Crvena zvezda Meridianbet prevailed by 100:95.

Match-up in focus: Crvena zvezda Meridianbet have a new sharp shooter in their ranks as Rokas Giedraitis is absolutely on fire at the start of the new season. The Lithuanian forward scored 12 points against Igokea m:tel last week, while he dropped 17 points, including 5 three-pointers, against LDLC Asvel couple of days ago.
On the other side, Jaka Blažič has returned to Cedevita Olimpija this summer and he did not need much time to take the leader’s role of this new green-and-orange team. Blažič scored 14 points in the win against Mega MIS in the opening round, while he made 13 points in the EuroCup match against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
