Game recap: Crvena zvezda Meridianbet seized a comfortable win against Igokea m:tel in their last game in 2023.
The red-and-whites have finished the job already in the 1st quarter in which they gained an 18-point lead – 31:13. And on top of that great first-quarter performance, Zvezda’s fans were probably especially pleased with the fact that 18-year-old wonderkid Nikola Topić was the team's best player in that period.
Topić made a great performance on his return to Crvena zvezda Meridianbet and he immediately showed that he will be an important part of the red-and-white team in the rest of the season.
With this 9th win in a row and 13th win in the season, Crvena zvezda Meridianbet have kept their distance from their biggest rivals. The Belgrade powerhouse now have the overall score of 13-1 and they are still all alone at the top of the table.
On the other side, this was 3rd consecutive defeat for Igokea m:tel in the 2023/24 AdmiralBet ABA league season and the Laktaši troops now have the overall score of 9-5.
Key moments: As we have previous said, Zvezda dominated the opening quarter in which they gained a large lead, but we also have to mention the last quarter in which the Belgrade side let their rivals score just 4 points. That eventually resulted in a 30+ margin win for the home team.
Man of the match: Once again this award belongs to Mike Tobey! The American center made his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds to guide his team toward another easy win.
Can’t trick the stats: Igokea m:tel scored just 48 points for the entire game, with some very bad shooting percentage. The visitors were 13/36 (36.1%) for 2 points and 3/24 (12.5%) for 3 points.
