Coach of the Season 2023/24: Danijel Jusup
In the traditional voting by the AdmiralBet ABA League head coaches, journalists and basketball fans, Zadar head coach Danijel Jusup has been selected the Coach of the 2023/24 AdmiralBet ABA League season.
Danijel Jusup, Zadar head coach, that has taken over the Višnjik squad ahead of the 2022/23 season and has been at the helm of the Dalmatians for the second season in a row, has been selected the best coach of the 2023/24 season in the traditional AdmiralBet ABA League voting by the head coaches of AdmiralBet ABA League teams, basketball journalists and the basketball fans, improving his second place in the voting from a season before!
The experienced tactician has convincingly taken the first place in the voting, winning the total of 53.8% of combined votes. He has been followed by Mega MIS head coach Marko Barać, who has taken the second place, with a total of 25.1% combined votes, while Partizan Mozzart Bet head coach Željko Obradović took the third place with 12.5% of the combined votes.
It is worth mentioning, that Jusup has taken the first place in two categories of voters – the head coaches and fans, while finishing second in the category of journalists.
Danijel Jusup has had an amazing journey with Zadar this season, leading the team to excellent score of 6th place in the Regular Season, in which they have also prevailed over some of the AdmiralBet ABA League powerhouses, that have taken the top positions in the standings. This is also the best Regular Season position for the Dalmatian side since the 2017/18 season, when they have taken the sixth place in the standings at the end of the Regular Season as well.
This is the sixth episode for Danijel Jusup, who has also been at the bench of Zadar previously in the seasons 1992/93, 1996-99, 2002-24, 2010/11, 2019/20 and since 2022 until today. The fans in Zadar still remember the legendary 2003 Cinderella story, when their beloved squad, led by Danijel Jusup from the bench, has claimed the regional league trophy, prevailing over Maccabi of Tel Aviv in the Final in the Tivoli Sports Hall.
In the traditional AdmiralBet ABA League voting for the Ideal Starting Five of the AdmiralBet ABA League season and the individual honours, the final results of the voting combines the votes of the head coaches of AdmiralBet ABA League teams (85% of the total voting results), the votes of fans (5% of the total voting results) and the votes of basketball journalists from the ABA League j.t.d. countries (10% of the total voting results).
