As part of the preparations for the new season, the seminar for the AdmiralBet ABA League and NLB ABA League 2 referees and the officiating supervisors took place this Monday morning in Zagreb, with a goal of retaining the high quality of the officiating in the top regional competitions and taking it to an even higher level.
All the referees were engaged in workshops, discussions and video reviews dealing with rules and the nuances of officiating games at the highest levels. Also, the Referees Commission of ABA League j.t.d used this meeting to introduce the new trends in officiating to the referees.
As part of the seminar, thanks to the excellent cooperation between the ABA League j.t.d. and EuroLeague Basketball and the high reputation of the ABA League j.t.d. referees throughout Europe – the ABA League currently has 18 referees and 2 officiating instructors - the referees and the supervisors were addressed by Euroleague Basketball’s Director of Officiating Daniel Hierrezuelo and Euroleague Referees' Scout Costas Rigas.
It goes without saying that the quality of officiating is best reflected by the opinion of the players and coaches of the basketball game. This is why, in order to present the experience of the coaches closer to the referees, as a lecturer, the special guest at this year's seminar was Zadar head coach Danijel Jusup. Jusup presented the interpretation of the basketball rules from the tacticians' point of view, with a goal of bringing the officiating within our regional competitions to the highest possible level, thanks to the sinergy between all of the stakeholders.
