The reigning champions look even stronger than a year before.
Crvena zvezda Meridianbet are entering the new season with the title of the reigning AdmiralBet ABA League champions and their main goal will be to defend the throne and become the first ever team in the league to claim 8 regional championships.
On that journey, the red-and-whites will have all the star players that helped them win the championship last season.
But, before we start talking about the players, let’s just mention that Ioannis Sfairopoulos has remained the team head coach after having a superb first year with the club during which he won three trophies.
Sfairopoulos will have 10 players from the last-season roster to work with in the following year. Team captain Branko Lazić, last season's AdmiralBet ABA League Playoffs MVP Yago dos Santos, then Miloš Teodosić, Joel Bolomboy, Rokas Giedraitis, Dejan Davidovac, Dalibor Ilić, Nemanja Nedović, Luka Mitrović and youngster Andrej Kostić have all remained in the squad and the team chemistry they have build over the last year will certainly represent one of the biggest strengths of Crvena zvezda Meridianbet in the season to come.
The Belgrade powerhouse have also acquired 6 new players and each of them should bring a lot of extra power to the team.
Nikola Kalinić and Ognjen Dobrić have returned to the club with whom they have already won plenty of trophies in the past, Codi Miller-McIntyre arrived from Baskonia with the reputation of one of the best guards in Europe, Isiaiah Canaan came from Olympiacos where he had two amazing seasons, while Uroš Plavšić and Mike Daum were brought to strengthen Zvezda’s already powerful frontcourt.
Looking down at the paper, the reigning AdmiralBet ABA League champions look even stronger than a year before and they seem ready to continue collecting silverware in the upcoming season.
