The famous Yellow crew made some interesting transfers over the summer in order to be even better than in the previous season and perhaps reach the AdmiralBet ABA League Playoffs for the first time in club’s history.

Last season, Split finished at the 9th place on the standings, which was their 2nd best season score ever achieved in the Admiralbet ABA League. Now, the three-time European champions want more.

The club has therefore made sure to keep the core of the last-season team and then to strengthen the roster at every position by signing new players.

Therefore, the first logical move was to continue cooperation with head coach Slaven Rimac who has a significant experience of working in the AdmiralBet ABA League. Rimac has previously coached Cibona, Cedevita and Cedevita Olimpija, he won the title back in 2014 as the head coach of Cibona, while this will be his 2nd year in Split.

The second move made by the club management was to keep the team leaders from the previous season, so they extended contract with the team top scorer Shannon Shorter, while they have also kept Krešimir Ljubičić, Boris Tišma, Vito Kučić, Tonko Vuko and Ante Perkušić, while they promoted young David Pavin into the first team.

After all of that, it was time to bring in the newcomers and some pretty well-known names have landed in Split this summer. One of the league’s best point guards in the last season Borna Kapusta has come to Split from SC Derby; Toni Katić has returned to his childhood club after 11 years; Former Cedevita and Zadar sharp shooter Antonio Jordano came back to AdmiralBet ABA League to join Split.

Also, David Škara has joined Split after playing abroad for years and he’s been one of the team’s best players during the preseason. Finally, the last Split’s signing this summer was center Barret Benson who will, same as Škara, make his AdmiralBet ABA League debut this season.

Split was just a win away from reaching the Playoffs last season. Perhaps, with all these signings, they may make that one step forward and finish the season among the top 8 teams on the standings.
