Story of the game: The two regional basketball giants are about to once again face each other in the AdmiralBet ABA League. In this week’s NLB Match of the Round Cedevita Olimpija will host Budućnost VOLI on Sunday evening.

Cedevita Olimpija did not start well their 2024/25 regional league campaign as the Dragons have scored just 2 wins out of the previous 5 rounds. Last weekend, they were defeated by Igokea m:tel on the road and that defeat has turned on the red lights inside the club. The Ljubljana side needed to show a proper reaction after another failure and the boys in the green-and-orange jerseys did so in their BKT EuroCup game last week when they scored a pretty big road win against Aris Thessaloniki. Now, Cedevita Olimpija want to bounce back in the AdmiralBet ABA League as well and for that to happen they will need to beat their big regional rivals Budućnost VOLI.

On the other side, Budućnost VOLI are coming to Ljubljana after a week they would rather forget as soon as possible. The Podgorica giant was one of the undefeated teams in the AdmiralBet ABA League before the previous round, but then they lost the thrilling home derby against their old rivals Crvena zvezda Meridianbet. That defeat has obviously affected the team as the blue-and-whites then lost their BKT EuroCup game as well as they were defeated by Bahcesehir College at home on Wednesday evening. Budućnost VOLI therefore need one big win to regain confidence and they are certainly hoping that they might clinch it already in the upcoming match in Ljubljana.

What is important to mention about this game is that Budućnost VOLI have won the last 3 away games against Cedevita Olimpija, while on top of that, the Podgorica side have defeated their Ljubljana rivals in 6 out of their previous 7 games in the AdmiralBet ABA League.
