2024/25 NLB Wheel League season about to tip-off

NLB Wheel League and ABA League and its clubs continue their cooperation in another season. Vladimir Sudar of SC Derby has therefore already confirmed his appearance at the first tournament of the new NLB Wheel League season.

After the first tournament, that will take place in Montenegro, four Regular Season Tournaments are about to follow. On 13 April 2025, the Semi-final Tournament will take place and on 17 May, the Final Tournament. KKI Vrbas are the defending champions.

The forthcoming season is expected to be a high-quality one. KKI Vrbas, KIK Zmaj Gradačac, Parasport Slovenia and Parasport Croatia have kept the cores of their squads together, while KK OSI Paramont has strengthened its squad by the arrival of players such as Hujić, Omeradžić, Šečić, Kurtović, Bahtić, Huskić and Menzil. KIK Una Sana, that returned to the competition will be led by the powerful trio Aziraj – Juričić – Dizdarić.

“We are starting off the 17th season of the NLB Wheel League. During Covid-19 we have organized a successful season and afterwards we have confidently started marching forward. Together with clubs and partners we are creating basketball in the territory of former state. Unfortunately, there are no teams from Serbia present this season, but I believe that in the future this will change again. I am looking forward to observing quality basketball this season. However, we would like to furtherly strengthen our ranks – let this year be a chance to include younger players into our teams. There are new challenges ahead of the league – possible expansion to the new countries or re-joining of some Austrian and Italian teams. We are looking forward to new season and everyone will contribute as much as he can so that the League would confirm its quality,” Gregor Gračner, the head of the competition told.

Vladan Nikolić, the head of KK OSI Paramont, the host of the first tournament stated: “We greet all of the participating teams. We are proud that Podgorica will be hosting the opening tournament of the 17th season. We welcome everyone. We have strengthened our squad, some excellent players joined, so our expectations are higher. I hope that we would win one of the first three places, this is our goal. We do not have a national competition, so NLB Wheel League is the only way for us to participate in the regional competitions.”
