Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana continued their unbeaten run in the BKT EuroCup with a commanding 80-59 victory over Aris Thessaloniki Betsson. The Slovenian side’s defensive intensity set the tone early, holding a team averaging over 90 points per game to just 59. While the final margin might have seemed a little larger than the game’s tight stretches suggested, coach Zvezdan Mitrović was particularly pleased with his team’s ability to limit Aris’s shooting and three-point attempts.
Umoja Gibson scored 19 points, Aleksej Nikolić added 15 despite health issues, and Joseph Girard came off the bench to hit four three-pointers en route to 16 points. Aris struggled without star guard Bryce Jones, who fouled out after limited minutes, leaving Cedevita in control throughout the second half and securing a 3-0 record atop Group A.
Meanwhile, Budućnost VOLI couldn’t find their rhythm in Ankara as Turk Telekom claimed a 79-72 home win. Kyle Allman led the hosts with 16 points and 4 assists, energizing the team on both ends and hitting a crucial three-pointer that swung momentum. Marko Simonović and Kyle Alexander dominated inside with 15 and 10 points, respectively, helping Turk Telekom control the paint and withstand Budućnost’s outside shooting. Despite a strong fight, Budućnost VOLI couldn’t overcome the visitors’ balanced attack and fell to 1-3 in the early EuroCup standings.
