Dubai Basketball and Crvena zvezda Meridianbet both faced demanding EuroLeague challenges on Friday night, each showing stretches of strong play but ultimately coming up short.
Dubai Basketball nearly claimed a statement win on the road, falling 79:78 to Virtus Bologna after a dramatic finish.
The visitors controlled long stretches of the first half, using their rebounding strength and balanced scoring from Justin Anderson, Aleksa Avramović, Kenan Kamenjaš, and Filip Petrušev to take a 39:44 lead into the break.
The second half featured constant shifts in momentum, with Dubai answering every Virtus push. In the final minute, however, a late three-pointer and a defensive stop against Petrušev tipped the game in Bologna’s favor. Dubai finished with five players in double figures and once again showed it can compete with any opponent in the league.
Crvena zvezda Meridianbet returned to Belgrade hoping to extend its strong run, but Barcelona left the Arena with an 79:89 victory.
Zvezda repeatedly closed the gap—tying the game early in the second quarter and later producing a 10–0 surge to erase a double-digit deficit in the third. The team’s energy and defensive pressure kept the contest close until early in the fourth period, when Barcelona strung together a decisive run from long range.
Despite the loss, Zvezda again displayed intensity and depth, remaining firmly positioned among the league’s competitive sides.
