On Saturday, May 16, 2026, a joint meeting was held via Zoom between the Presidency of the ABA League j.t.d., the management of the ABA League, and representatives of Dubai Basketball. The discussion focused on the current situation regarding the organization of the competition Playoffs and the security aspects of hosting games in Dubai, UAE.

The participants once again confirmed that the decision regarding the possible staging of games at a neutral venue was made solely with the safety of all competition participants in mind, taking into account the current circumstances and recommendations of the relevant authorities.

During the discussion, it was highlighted that a certain number of players and coaching staff members have expressed concerns related to travel, particularly in light of the current recommendations and warnings issued by their respective embassies and government authorities concerning the security situation and travel to the UAE. In this context, a new deadline for making the final decision was requested, in order to gather additional information and conduct further consultations with all relevant parties.

It was agreed that Dubai Basketball would continue communication with the relevant institutions and diplomatic representatives and provide official confirmations regarding travel safety and the organization of the games.

All participants in the meeting stated that their common interest is for the Playoffs to be held under optimal sporting conditions, including the participation of all clubs with full rosters, which the ABA League Playoffs certainly deserve.

The Presidency of the ABA League will continue to monitor developments on a daily basis, and a new meeting regarding the next steps in organizing the competition Playoffs will be held on Monday, May 18.
