A historic chapter has been written in Subotica. Spartak Office Shoes are the new Serbian National Champions after defeating FMP 76:73 in a dramatic Final that required overtime to determine the winner.
The triumph marks the first Serbian National Championship title in club history and represents another remarkable milestone in the meteoric rise of the Subotica side. After winning the ABA League 2 title in 2024 and reaching the AdmiralBet ABA League Playoffs in each of the past two seasons, Spartak Office Shoes have now added another major trophy to their growing collection.
The road to glory was anything but easy. In the Final Four semi-finals, Spartak Office Shoes stunned Crvena zvezda Meridianbet in thrilling fashion. With the score tied in the closing moments, Olivier Hanlan stepped up and knocked down the game-winning two-pointer to secure a memorable 90:89 victory and send his team into the championship game.
The Final against FMP proved to be another battle of nerves.
For much of the second half, it appeared that Spartak Office Shoes were cruising towards the title. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Subotica crew held a comfortable 68:55 advantage and seemed firmly in control of the contest.
But FMP had no intention of surrendering. The Panthers responded with an incredible comeback, erasing the entire 13-point deficit and drawing level at 68:68. They even had an opportunity to win the championship in the closing seconds of regulation. However, the inbound pass resulted in a turnover, and the shot clock expired before FMP could get a shot away, sending the game into overtime.
The extra period delivered even more drama.
With the score tied at 73:73 and the championship hanging in the balance, Spartak Office Shoes produced the decisive plays. Danilo Nikolić first connected on a crucial two-point basket to put his side in front, 75:73. Shortly afterwards, Olivier Hanlan added one free throw out of two attempts to extend the lead to 76:73.
That proved to be enough.
FMP still had chances to force another overtime, but missed two three-point attempts in the final moments, allowing the celebrations to begin for the Spartak Office Shoes players, coaching staff and fans.
