Iverson Molinar is the new Budućnost VOLI Player

Iverson Molinar is not arriving in Podgorica as an unfamiliar name. On the contrary, he comes to Morača as a player whom the club got to know very well over the past season—first through the EuroCup, and then through a series of important ABA League matchups with Cluj. In particular, people remember that March evening in Podgorica when, in the EuroCup Round of 16, he scored 34 points and delivered one of his best performances of the season, as well as a whole series of games that demonstrated the type of guard who is now coming to Morača.

Iverson Molinar is a player who feels most comfortable controlling the rhythm of the game with the ball in his hands. He can organize the offense, attack out of the pick-and-roll, and take responsibility when possessions become shorter and the opposing defense shuts down the primary options. His greatest value lies in the fact that he is not limited to a single role. He can play both guard positions, complement a traditional point guard, or take over playmaking duties himself when the game demands it.

Standing at 193 cm (6'4"), Molinar brings size and strength to the perimeter. When driving to the basket, he uses changes of pace, a strong first step, and the ability to absorb contact, while his outside shooting allows him to punish defenses that sag too deeply. When defenders step up high, he has the court vision and patience to find the open teammate. When isolated one-on-one, he has the confidence to attack the rim.

During the season with Cluj, he showed that he can be a major offensive weapon even at the European level. In the EuroCup, he averaged 12.9 points and 4 assists per game, and against us he confirmed what had been evident throughout the year: in big games, he neither shies away from the ball nor from responsibility.

His journey to Podgorica took him through the American college system and Mississippi State, the NBA G League with the Wisconsin Herd, Israel's Hapoel Be'er Sheva, and then Cluj, with whom he won the Romanian championship. A long-time member of the Panama national team, he arrives at Morača with experience from different basketball styles and from games that demand character.

Ajverson Molinar novi igrač Budućnosti VOLI

Budućnost VOLI jača je za Ajversona Molinara, 26-godišnjeg panamskog beka koji u Podgoricu stiže iz rumunskog Kluža.

Molinara u Podgorici ne dočekuju kao nepoznato ime. Naprotiv, u Moraču dolazi košarkaš kojeg su tokom prethodne sezone dobro upoznali, prvo kroz Evrokup, a zatim i kroz seriju važnih ABA duela sa Klužom. Pamti se posebno martovsko veče u Podgorici, kada je u osmini finala Evrokupa ubacio 34 poena i odigrao jednu od najboljih utakmica sezone, ali i čitav niz susreta koji je pokazao kakav profil beka dolazi u Moraču.

Ajverson Molinar je igrač koji ritam utakmice osjeća sa loptom u rukama. Može da organizuje napad, da napadne iz pik-en-rola, ali i da preuzme odgovornost kada se posjed skrati, a protivnička odbrana zatvori prve opcije. Njegova najveća vrijednost je u tome što nije vezan za samo jednu ulogu. Može da pokrije obje bekovske pozicije, da igra uz klasičnog plejmejkera, ali i da sam preuzme kreaciju kada utakmica to zahtijeva.

Sa 193 centimetra, Molinar donosi veličinu i snagu na spoljnim pozicijama. U prodoru koristi promjenu ritma, dobar prvi korak i sposobnost da primi kontakt, dok mu šut sa distance daje prostor da kazni svako previše duboko povlačenje odbrane. Kada odbrana izađe visoko, ima pregled igre i strpljenje da pronađe saigrača. Kada ostane jedan na jedan, ima samopouzdanje da napadne obruč.

U dresu Kluža je tokom sezone pokazao da može da bude ozbiljan napadački oslonac i u evropskoj košarci. U Evrokupu je bilježio 12,9 poena i četiri asistencije po utakmici, a protiv nas je potvrdio i ono što se vidjelo tokom čitave godine: u velikim mečevima ne bježi od lopte ni od odgovornosti.

Njegov put do Podgorice vodio je preko američkog koledž sistema i Misisipi Stejta, razvojne NBA lige u dresu Viskonsin Herda, izraelskog Hapoel Ber Ševe, a zatim i Kluža, sa kojim je osvojio prvenstvo Rumunije. Dugogodišnji je reprezentativac Paname, a u Moraču stiže sa iskustvom različitih stilova košarke i utakmica koje traže karakter.
