Galin Smith is an American basketball player born on December 29, 1998. Standing 206 cm (6-foot-9), he plays both power forward and center.

Smith began his basketball career at Clinton High School in Mississippi, where he was regarded as one of the top players in his class in the state. He started his college career at the University of Alabama, spending three seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide before transferring to the University of Maryland as a graduate student. During the 2020/21 season, he appeared in all 31 games for the Maryland Terrapins, starting 17 of them.

After completing his collegiate career, Smith embarked on his professional journey in Europe and beyond. He played in Sweden for Södertälje BBK, in Finland for Kataja Basket, in New Zealand for the Canterbury Rams, in Germany for the Crailsheim Merlins, in Kazakhstan for Astana, and most recently for Neftchi IK Baku in Azerbaijan.

Smith is known as a physically strong big man who brings toughness in the paint, rebounding, rim protection, and efficient finishing around the basket. During the 2025/26 FIBA Europe Cup season with Neftchi IK, he averaged 11.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 66.7% from the field.

Over the course of his career, Smith has gained valuable experience in a variety of basketball environments, from NCAA Division I basketball in the United States to professional leagues across Europe and international competitions. 27-letni ameriški košarkar Galin Smith je novi član novomeške Krke. S svojim znanjem in izkušnjami bo trenerju Domnu Zevniku na voljo na položajih centra in krilnega centra.

Košarkarsko pot je začel na Clinton High School v Mississippiju, kjer je veljal za enega najboljših igralcev svoje generacije v zvezni državi. Študij je začel na univerzi Alabama, kjer je tri sezone igral za Alabama Crimson Tide, nato pa kot podiplomski študent prestopil na univerzo Maryland.
