Jordan Gainey is the new Dragon
Cedevita Olimpija continues to assemble its roster for the 2026/27 competitive season. The newest member of the Dragons family is 24-year-old American guard Jordan Gainey, who arrives in Ljubljana following an outstanding season with Cedevita Junior of Zagreb.

“I’m very happy to be wearing the Cedevita Olimpija jersey in the upcoming season. It’s a great club with a rich tradition and a first-class organization, so I’m really looking forward to getting started with the team. Last season with Cedevita Junior in Zagreb gave me a lot of valuable experience, and I also built great relationships with my teammates. I believe I’m ready to take the next step in my career,” said Jordan Gainey after signing his contract with Cedevita Olimpija.
Standing 193 centimeters tall, Jordan Gainey made his professional debut during the 2025/26 season with Cedevita Junior. Prior to that, he spent four seasons in the NCAA, where he played for the USC Upstate Spartans and the Tennessee Volunteers.
After completing his collegiate career in the United States, Gainey played his first European season with Cedevita Junior, where he quickly made a name for himself with a series of impressive performances. In the FIBA Europe Cup, he averaged 15.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting over 50 percent from the field and better than 40 percent from three-point range.
He was also one of the key players for his team in the Croatian national championship, proving he is ready for the next step in his career. In Croatia's top basketball league, he appeared in 31 games, averaging 14.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

Cedevita Olimpija nadaljuje sestavljanje igralskega mozaika za tekmovalno sezono 2026/27. Novi član Zmajeve družine je 24-letni ameriški branilec Jordan Gainey, ki v Ljubljano prihaja po odlični sezoni v dresu zagrebške Cedevite Junior.
"Zelo sem vesel, da bom v prihajajoči sezoni nosil dres Cedevite Olimpije. Gre za odličen klub z bogato tradicijo in vrhunsko organizacijo, zato se že veselim začetka dela z ekipo. Prejšnja sezona, ki sem jo preživel pri Cedeviti Junior v Zagrebu, mi je prinesla veliko dragocenih izkušenj, ob tem pa sem zgradil tudi odlične odnose s soigralci. Verjamem, da sem pripravljen na naslednji korak v svoji karieri," je ob podpisu pogodbe s Cedevito Olimpijo povedal Jordan Gainey.
193 centimetrov visoki Jordan Gainey je v sezoni 2025/26 v dresu Cedevite Junior prvič zaigral na profesionalni ravni. Pred tem je štiri sezone Preživel v Ligi NCAA, kjer je nosil dres ekip USC Upstate Spartans in Tennessee Volunteers.
Po zaključku univerzitetne kariere v Združenih državah Amerike je Jordan Gainey svojo prvo evropsko sezono odigral pri Cedeviti Junior, kjer je hitro opozoril nase z odličnimi predstavami. V tekmovanju FIBA Europe Cup je v povprečju dosegal 15,4 točke, 2,8 skoka in 2,0 asistence na tekmo ter ob tem iz igre metal z več kot 50-odstotno uspešnostjo in za tri točke z več kot 40-odstotnim izkoristkom.
Tudi v hrvaškem državnem prvenstvu je bil eden ključnih igralcev svoje ekipe ter dokazal, da je pripravljen na naslednji korak v karieri. V najmočnejši hrvaški košarkarski ligi je zaigral na 31 tekmah, v povprečju pa dosegal 14,0 točk, 2,8 skokov in 2,1 asistenco na tekmo.
