PRESEASON: Mega Superbet earn hard-fought victory over Auburn University

Mega Superbet recorded a 70:68 victory over Auburn University in Mykonos, coming out on top in another close preparation game against the American college side.

After a competitive opening half, Mega took control following the break. Vule Avdalović’s squad produced their strongest stretch of the game in the third quarter, winning the period 23:14 and putting themselves in a good position ahead of the final ten minutes.

Auburn managed to respond and made it a close contest down the stretch, but Mega protected their lead to secure a two-point victory.

Andrej Lučić delivered the standout performance for the Belgrade side, finishing with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for the index rating of 21. Mihailo Bošković followed with 12 points, while Pavle Bačko contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds. Ognjen Nikolić also reached double figures with 10 points.

The win continued Mega’s successful tradition of testing themselves against NCAA opposition during the preseason. The Belgrade team previously recorded victories against Michigan in Spain in 2018, Texas Tech in the Bahamas in 2019 and Virginia in Italy in 2022.

There will be another opportunity for Mega to face NCAA opposition before the start of the new season, as Avdalović’s team are set to take on the University of Michigan in Dubrovnik on 27 August.
