Presenting 2026/27 teams: Budućnost VOLI - Keeping the core, raising the expectations

Budućnost VOLI are once again entering the new season with the highest possible ambitions, as the Podgorica squad aim to make another step forward in the AdmiralBet ABA League.

The blue-and-white team reached the Semi-Finals last season, and while that was another strong campaign for the blue-and-whites, their ambitions remain even higher. This time, one of their biggest strengths might be continuity, as Budućnost VOLI opted against making major changes to the team during the summer.

Head coach Andrej Žakelj will continue to lead the squad, while many important players from last season will once again wear the Budućnost VOLI jersey. Fletcher Magee, Andrija Slavković, Kevin Duane Ferrell Jr, Đorđije Jovanović, Juwan Morgan, Oleksandr Kovliar and Axel Bouteille have all remained in Podgorica, giving the team a strong and familiar core heading into the 2026/27 campaign.

At the same time, the club management made sure to add some fresh quality to an already competitive roster. Iverson Molinar, Emir Hadžibegović, Justin Smith, Marial Shayok and Stefan Đorđević arrived in Podgorica over the summer to further strengthen Žakelj's team.

Molinar, Hadžibegović and Đorđević already know what it takes to compete in the AdmiralBet ABA League, while Smith and Shayok are set to make their debuts in the regional competition. Their arrival gives Budućnost VOLI additional depth and plenty of new options on both ends of the court.

And the first signs have certainly been encouraging.

Budućnost VOLI have won all of their preseason games so far and have looked very convincing during their preparations. While the real challenges are still ahead, their preseason form, combined with the continuity of the roster and several quality summer additions, gives the Podgorica fans plenty of reasons for optimism.

After reaching the Semi-Finals last season, Budućnost VOLI are determined to go even further this time around. With an experienced core, carefully selected reinforcements and Andrej Žakelj still at the helm, everything is set for another exciting campaign in Podgorica.
