Presenting 2026/27 teams: Dubai Basketball – The champions are hungry for more

Dubai Basketball experienced the ultimate joy last season, when they completed a historic AdmiralBet ABA League campaign by lifting the trophy and claiming the first title in club history. Now, they are ready to open a new chapter of their journey - this time as the reigning champions and the team everyone will be looking to dethrone.

And judging by their moves over the summer, Dubai Basketball are determined to make their stay at the top a long one. Instead of simply enjoying the success of the previous campaign, the club management worked hard to put together an even stronger roster, capable of competing for every trophy in the 2026/27 season.

The first major change came on the bench, where Xavi Pascual has taken over as the new head coach. One of the most accomplished coaches in European basketball, Pascual is a 2010 EuroLeague champion and has won numerous trophies throughout his career. His experience and winning pedigree should therefore fit perfectly into a club that has quickly developed championship ambitions.

At the same time, Dubai Basketball have managed to preserve something equally important – continuity. Most of the players who brought the club its historic first trophy have remained with the team. Dwayne Bacon, Klemen Prepelič, Davis Bertans, Justin Anderson, Džanan Musa, McKinley Wright IV, Kenan Kamenjaš, Filip Petrušev, Nemanja Dangubić, Kosta Kondić and Mfiondu Kabengele will all continue wearing the Dubai jersey and together form an extremely powerful core.

Keeping such a strong group together would already have been an impressive piece of summer business, but Dubai Basketball did not stop there. The reigning champions added several top-class players to make an already formidable roster even stronger.

Jaron Blossomgame, Davion Mintz, Elie Okobo, Mamadi Diakite, Tornike Shengelia and Thomas Walkup have all joined the club, bringing additional quality, depth and valuable experience at the highest level of European basketball.

Put the two groups together and Dubai Basketball have assembled a roster filled with quality at every position – one that looks extremely strong not only by AdmiralBet ABA League standards, but at the EuroLeague level as well.

Last season was about making history. The 2026/27 campaign will be about building on it. With the championship core still together, several major additions and a proven winner leading the team from the bench, Dubai Basketball have every reason to set the highest possible goals as they begin the defence of their AdmiralBet ABA League crown.
