Presenting 2026/27 teams: Perspektiva Ilirija - Murić leads a new generation

Perspektiva Ilirija are ready for their second season among the regional elite after successfully achieving their main goal in their debut AdmiralBet ABA League campaign.

The Ljubljana squad secured their AdmiralBet ABA League status for the 2026/27 season well on time, while also giving significant opportunities to several young players who displayed plenty of talent throughout the campaign. Now, as they prepare for another challenge at the highest regional level, Perspektiva Ilirija enter the new season with a significantly changed roster.

The first major change came on the bench, where Gašper Okorn replaced Stipe Modrić as head coach. Okorn will have a largely new group at his disposal, with only five players from last season remaining with the team.

Edo Murić will be the leader of this new-look Perspektiva Ilirija squad. By far the most experienced player on the roster, Murić will have an important role both on and off the court, particularly when it comes to guiding the club's talented youngsters. The other four returning players are Bine Gabrijel, Lovro Faganel, Radoslav Stanislav Raykov and Lian Boisa.

Every other member of the first team is a newcomer, as Perspektiva Ilirija added nine new players over the summer - Jan Copot, Hunter Dean, Cameron Shelton, Gal Čop, Matej Čibej, Matic Rezec, Cole Hargrove, Vit Hrabar and Stefan Todorović.

Some of those names are already familiar to AdmiralBet ABA League fans. Hunter Dean spent the previous season with SC Derby, while Cameron Shelton already experienced the regional competition during his spell with Split in the 2023/24 campaign. Matej Čibej and Jan Copot have gained valuable experience in ABA League 2, while several other newcomers will get their first taste of senior ABA competitions this season.

With a new head coach, plenty of new faces and another intriguing group of young players, there are many questions surrounding Perspektiva Ilirija ahead of the new campaign. How quickly will the new-look squad come together? Who will step forward alongside the experienced Murić? And which youngster might emerge as the team's next breakthrough player?

The answers will come once the ball goes up, but one thing already seems certain - Perspektiva Ilirija have assembled another interesting squad that should provide plenty of memorable moments in the 2026/27 AdmiralBet ABA League season.
