Presenting 2026/27 teams: Krka - Ready to build on early success

Krka are ready for another AdmiralBet ABA League campaign, and this time the Novo mesto squad hope to reach safe waters much earlier.

By scoring several important wins late in the previous season, Krka managed to secure their AdmiralBet ABA League status for the 2026/27 campaign and therefore fulfilled their main goal. Now, with a significantly changed team, they want to avoid another tense finish and leave their mark on the regional competition.

And the first signs are certainly promising.

With new head coach Domen Zevnik at the helm and plenty of new faces in the roster, Krka have already started the new season in the best possible way by winning the Slovenian Supercup. That early success should provide an important confidence boost as they now look to carry the positive momentum onto the AdmiralBet ABA League stage.

Although Zevnik is new to the head coaching position, he knows Krka's system very well, having previously worked at the club as an assistant coach. He will also have some continuity within the roster, as four players from last season - Urban Oman, Blaž Mahkovic, Jan Rebec and Jaka Klobučar - have remained with the team.

The rest of the squad consists of newcomers, but many of them are already very familiar with the ABA environment.

Diante Baldwin arrived from Borac Mozzart and therefore brings valuable AdmiralBet ABA League experience, while Đorđe Božić, Jon Dolničar, Uroš Šikanić and Lenart Sirc have all previously competed in ABA League 2. Balažić, meanwhile, comes through Krka's youth system, where he gained regional experience in the U19 ABA League.

That leaves Galin Smith and Naje Smith as the players who will experience ABA competitions for the first time, adding another intriguing element to Krka's new-look roster.

There may be plenty of new faces in Novo mesto, but Krka have already shown that this group can play some very good basketball. Winning the Slovenian Supercup was the perfect way to begin their new journey and an encouraging sign of what this revamped squad might be capable of.

Now comes the next challenge. Krka want to prove themselves on the big AdmiralBet ABA League stage, secure their place among the regional elite without the late-season drama and make the 2026/27 campaign one to remember.
