Presenting 2026/27 teams: Slovan Bratislava - Ready to make some noise

Slovan Bratislava are ready to open a brand-new chapter in club history as they prepare for their first-ever season in the AdmiralBet ABA League. The excitement is building in the Slovak capital, where a new-look squad is getting ready to step onto the big stage and test itself against some of the best teams in the competition.

Ahead of this historic campaign, Slovan have put together an interesting mixture of players who stayed from last season, newcomers eager to prove themselves and several familiar faces who already know very well what it takes to compete in the AdmiralBet ABA League.

Perhaps the most important addition came on the bench, where Dejan Jakara took over as head coach. Jakara already has plenty of AdmiralBet ABA League experience, having previously led SC Derby and Krka. During those spells, his teams showed that they could compete with anyone and produced several memorable wins against much more fancied opponents. His knowledge of the league and its environment should therefore be extremely valuable for Slovan in their debut season.

Jakara will also be able to rely on four newcomers who bring significant ABA experience to Bratislava. Niko Bačvić and Brady Skeens previously played for Krka, while experienced big man Zoran Nikolić has represented several clubs in the competition and was part of the Budućnost VOLI team that won the ABA League championship in 2018. Mateo Drežnjak is another player who knows the regional stage very well, arriving after spells with both Budućnost VOLI and SC Derby.

Six more summer signings are preparing to make their AdmiralBet ABA League debuts. Quincy Ford, Trevon Bluiett, Ben Kovač, Róbert Rožánek, Desure Buie and Tray Buchanan have all joined the Bratislava squad and will be looking to make an immediate impact in their first taste of ABA League basketball.

At the same time, Slovan have kept an important domestic core from the previous season. Matej Majerčák, David Abrhám, Tomáš Pavelka and Milan Szabó remain with the team and will provide continuity and local strength as the club enters a completely new competitive environment.

And if preseason results are anything to go by, Slovan Bratislava appear to be heading into their historic campaign in good shape. The newcomers recorded six wins in seven preparation games, building confidence and chemistry ahead of the challenges that await them.

The preparations are almost over. The excitement in Bratislava is growing. Now, it is time for Slovan to step onto the AdmiralBet ABA League stage for the very first time and show what they can do.
