Presenting 2026/27 teams: SC Derby - Youth and experience join forces

SC Derby are entering the new AdmiralBet ABA League season with an interesting mixture of continuity, fresh faces and young talent. The Students have kept several important pieces from the previous campaign, added six newcomers to the roster and opened the door for another generation of promising players who are waiting for their opportunity on the big stage.

Everything will once again be supervised by head coach Petar Mijović, who will continue his work with the Podgorica side. His familiarity with the club and its philosophy should be important for a team that combines experience with plenty of youthful energy.

Mijović will have four players from last season's roster who are expected to become the pillars of this new-look team. Nikola Pavlićević, Filip Anđušić, Nikola Šaranović and Jyare Davis will provide the necessary continuity and should take on important roles as SC Derby look to establish their identity early in the campaign.

Then we come to the newcomers, and there are six of them. Most already know the ABA environment very well. Antonio Jordano arrives from Split, Aleksa Uskoković joins from Borac Mozzart, Ognjen Radošić comes from Crvena zvezda Meridianbet, while Marko Pavićević spent the previous season with BC Vienna. Meanwhile, Andre Wesson and Eral Penn are set to experience AdmiralBet ABA League basketball for the first time.

Those ten players are expected to carry much of the responsibility on the court, but one of the most exciting parts of this SC Derby project is the group of young talents waiting behind them. Zvonimir Dujaković, Vuk Ivelja, Marko Popović, Ilija Radović and Lazar Rakočević represent the new generation of Students and will be eager to use every opportunity they get to prove themselves at the senior level.

Developing young players has long been an important part of SC Derby's identity, and the 2026/27 roster once again appears to follow that path - combining established players, carefully selected additions and youngsters hungry for their chance.

And the first signs have been encouraging. SC Derby recorded six wins in eight preseason games, giving the new-look squad a valuable confidence boost before the games that really count begin.

The pieces are in place, the young talents are waiting for their moment and the Students are ready. Now it is time to see what this new SC Derby generation can do in the 2026/27 AdmiralBet ABA League season.
