Presenting 2026/27 teams: Zadar - A new era begins in Višnjik

Zadar are preparing to enter a new era. After four years under the guidance of Danijel Jusup, the club have turned a new page by appointing Stipe Modrić as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 AdmiralBet ABA League season.

Modrić arrives in Zadar after spending the previous three years at Perspektiva Ilirija, where he steadily built his reputation and showed last season that he has both the knowledge and passion required to lead a team at AdmiralBet ABA League level. Now, a new and exciting challenge awaits him at one of the region's most traditional basketball clubs.

While there have been several changes to the roster over the summer, the most important thing for Zadar is that their main leaders are still there. Team captain Marko Ramljak will once again lead the squad on the floor, while Vladimir Mihailović, one of the league's finest scorers, remains one of the main weapons of the Zadar offense.

Alongside them, Krševan Klarica, Niko Šare, Lovro Buljević, Luka Bičić and Andro Mirčeta have all remained with the team, giving Modrić a solid core to build around and providing some much-needed continuity during this period of transition.

Zadar have also added five new players to strengthen the roster. Two of them already know very well what it means to wear the Zadar jersey, as Dario Drežnjak and Ivan Vraneš have returned to the club. They have been joined by Ivan Vučić, Mark Ogden Jr and Ross Williams, completing an interesting group of newcomers who will look to make an immediate impact.

At the same time, the club continue to invest in their own young talent. Luka Jerak, Bruno Baričević and Frane Bajković have all been promoted to the first team and will have an opportunity to take important steps forward while learning alongside the more experienced members of the squad.

And the first signs of this new era have certainly been encouraging. Zadar won five of their six preseason games, showing that the new pieces are already starting to fit together under Modrić.

A new coach, several new faces, but the same proven leaders and recognizable Zadar spirit. The foundations are there, while the preseason results have provided additional optimism ahead of the real challenge.
