Latvian international Rihards Lomažs reinforced Cedevita Olimpija

Rihards Lomažs will wear the Cedevita Olimpija jersey in the new season. The 193-centimetre guard brings a wealth of experience from European club competitions, international basketball and several European domestic leagues. During the 2025/26 season, he played for Neptūnas in the BKT EuroCup and was one of the Lithuanian team’s key players. In 16 appearances, he averaged 18.6 points, 4.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 38.8 percent from three-point range. He will now compete in the same competition wearing the green-and-orange jersey.

“I’m very happy to have joined Cedevita Olimpija. It is a big and respected club, and I have heard nothing but positive things about it. I’m also looking forward to working with Coach Mitrović again. A few years ago, we came close to reuniting, so I’m happy that the opportunity has now presented itself for us to finally work together again. Our ambitions are high in every competition—the EuroCup, the ABA League and the domestic competitions. I’m delighted to be here and looking forward to an exciting and successful season together,” Rihards Lomažs said after signing his contract with Cedevita Olimpija.

Rihards Lomažs began his basketball career in Latvia, where he also played for Ventspils. He later competed in France, Germany, Türkiye, Spain, Italy and Lithuania. He gained EuroLeague experience with ASVEL—where he previously worked with Cedevita Olimpija head coach Zvezdan Mitrović—and Virtus Bologna. Last season in the EuroCup, he demonstrated his ability both to score and create opportunities for his teammates.

Lomažs is a regular member and the captain of the Latvian national team. At FIBA EuroBasket 2025, he averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 assists per game. He has so far appeared in eight games in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers, averaging 18.3 points, 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Latvijski reprezentant Rihards Lomažs je okrepil Cedevita Olimpijo

Cedevita Olimpija je svojo zunanjo linijo okrepila z Rihardsom Lomažsom. Tridesetletni latvijski reprezentant, ki lahko igra na obeh branilskih položajih, v Ljubljano prihaja po odlični sezoni v dresu litovskega Neptūnasa. Z ljubljanskim klubom je podpisal enoletno pogodbo.

Rihards Lomažs bo v novi sezoni nosil dres Cedevite Olimpije. 193 centimetrov visoki branilec prinaša izkušnje iz evropskih tekmovanj, reprezentančnih tekem in številnih evropskih lig. V sezoni 2025/26 je za Neptūnas nastopal v BKT EuroCupu in bil eden ključnih igralcev litovske zasedbe. Na 16 tekmah je v povprečju dosegal 18,6 točke, 4,1 asistence in 3,1 skoka, za tri točke pa metal 38,8-odstotno. Zdaj bo v istem tekmovanju igral v zeleno-oranžnem dresu.

Že pred nekaj leti sva bila blizu ponovnega sodelovanja, zato sem vesel, da se je zdaj ponudila priložnost, da končno znova združiva moči. Naše ambicije so visoke v vseh tekmovanjih, v EuroCupu, Ligi ABA in domačih tekmovanjih. Vesel sem, da sem tukaj, in se že veselim vznemirljive ter uspešne skupne sezone," je ob podpisu pogodbe s Cedevito Olimpijo povedal Rihards Lomažs.

Rihards Lomažs je svojo košarkarsko pot začel v Latviji, kjer je igral tudi za Ventspils. Pozneje je nastopal v Franciji, Nemčiji, Turčiji, Španiji, Italiji in Litvi. Z ASVEL-om, kjer je med drugim že sodeloval tudi z glavnim trenerjem članske ekipe Cedevite Olimpije Zvezdanom Mitrovićem, in Virtusom iz Bologne je okusil Evroligo, v pretekli sezoni pa v EuroCupu pokazal, da lahko ob doseganju točk skrbi tudi za soigralce.

Redno je del latvijske reprezentance, je tudi njen kapetan. Na EuroBasketu 2025 je v povprečju dosegal 11,5 točke in 5,8 asistence na tekmo. V kvalifikacijah za svetovno prvenstvo 2027 je zaenkrat zaigral na osmih tekmah, v povprečju pa dosega 18,3 točke, 3,8 asistence in 3,0 skoke na tekmo.
