Story of the game: In the opening game of the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season Group B, Vienna will be hosting U-BT Cluj-Napoca at home in their Hallmann Dome in Vienna.
It’s a game of two squads, that have both joined the regional competition in the previous season and that have both hugely changed their squads heading into the current AdmiralBet ABA League season, so it is quite difficult to predict anything and we will have to wait and see how teams work on court of the Hallmann dome when the season starts for both squads.
Vienna have been unsuccessful in their quest to qualify for the Basketball Champions League this season, having suffered a defeat in their first qualifying game, against Promitheas of Patras. On the other side, U-BT Cluj-Napoca have suffered a defeat in the Round 1 of the BKT EuroCup Regular Season and both sides will be looking to get to the winning track at the start of the ABA season.
It’s worth noting that the two squads have never ever met in the regional competition so far. Who will be the first to triumph in their match-up?
Match-up in focus: Grant Sherfield will be challenging Otis Livingston in the duel of two prolific American guards and it is quite possible that the difference between the two could be a decisive factor of the game and that the better of the two could easily take his team to the win.
