BC Vienna came agonizingly close to a remarkable comeback in their FIBA Europe Cup first game of the season, but eventually suffered a 66:65 road defeat against SLUC Nancy Basket in the opening round of Group D.

BC Vienna came agonizingly close to a remarkable comeback in their FIBA Europe Cup first game of the season, but eventually suffered a 66:65 road defeat against SLUC Nancy Basket in the opening round of Group D.

The hosts controlled the first half and built a 43:29 advantage by halftime, while they kept a double-digit lead in the following quarter.

Vienna, however, produced a huge fourth-quarter response. Three-pointers from Aleksandar Langović and Aleksa Novaković helped the visitors erase the deficit, while R.J. Gunn's three-pointer with 37 seconds remaining brought Vienna within a single point at 66:65. However, That proved to be the final score, leaving Dragan Bajić's team just short of completing the comeback.
