Story of the Game: Igokea m:tel and Crvena zvezda Meridianbet will face each other in Laktaši on Saturday evening in an important AdmiralBet ABA League Group A encounter.
Igokea m:tel started their regional campaign with a home victory over Slovan Bratislava (97:89), but have since suffered back-to-back defeats in front of their fans. After losing to Borac Mozzart (83:94), the Laktaši squad were beaten by Cedevita Olimpija (81:93) last weekend, dropping to a 1-2 record. They will now be looking to end their losing streak, although the challenge could hardly be tougher against a Crvena zvezda side that has been gaining momentum in regional competition.
The red-and-whites, meanwhile, have recovered from their opening-round defeat against FMP. They followed it up with a 101:91 victory over Budućnost VOLI before cruising past Krka in Novo mesto (97:78), improving their ABA League record to 2-1. However, their latest EuroLeague appearance brought disappointment, as they suffered an 85:82 overtime defeat against city rivals Partizan Mozzart Bet on Thursday evening. Crvena zvezda will therefore be eager to respond immediately and continue their winning run in the regional competition.
Match-up in Focus: One of the key individual battles to watch will be between Igokea's Petar Kovačević and Crvena zvezda's Chima Moneke, two players capable of making a significant impact with their energy and presence around the basket.
Kovačević has emerged as one of Igokea's most productive players in the opening rounds, contributing both as a scorer and through his overall activity on the court.
On the other side, Moneke brings athleticism, rebounding ability and valuable EuroLeague experience to the visitors.
