EC: Cedevita Olimpija celebrate first win, Bosna BH Telecom suffer home defeat

Wednesday evening brought two AdmiralBet ABA League representatives into action in Round 6 of the BKT EuroCup, as Cedevita Olimpija celebrated their first victory of the season against Baglietto Derthona Tortona, while Bosna BH Telecom suffered a home defeat against Balkan Botevgrad.

Cedevita Olimpija defeated Baglietto Derthona Tortona 73:71 after overtime in Ljubljana to record their first EuroCup victory of the season. Zvezdan Mitrović's team had to work hard for the win, as the visitors controlled much of the contest and entered the final quarter with a six-point advantage.

However, the Ljubljana side fought back in the final ten minutes, with Rihards Lomažs hitting an important three-pointer to give the hosts a 62:59 lead. Matthew Hurt then extended the advantage to five points, but Tortona refused to surrender. Justin Gorham knocked down a dramatic three-pointer to tie the score at 65:65 and force overtime. The drama continued in the additional five minutes, with Anthony Cowan converting the decisive free throws to secure the victory.

Meanwhile, Bosna BH Telecom suffered a 78:69 home defeat against Balkan Botevgrad, ending their two-game winning streak in the competition. Dario Gjergja's team made a promising start, taking a 24:18 lead after the opening quarter and extending the advantage to 31:24 early in the second period.

However, the visitors responded with a strong finish to the first half, overturning the deficit to enter the halftime break with a narrow 41:39 advantage. Bosna briefly regained the lead after the break, but Balkan took control in the third quarter and established a 61:55 advantage heading into the final ten minutes. The Sarajevo side struggled to find offensive solutions in the decisive period, allowing the visitors to secure their first victory of the season.
