There is a new Dragon on the West. And it wants to rule the land.

2019/20 Cedevita Olimpija

For years we have watched Cedevita and Petrol Olimpija competing against each other in the ABA League, but that won’t be happening anymore. Because the two regional giants merged into one team this summer and formed a club called Cedevita Olimpija.

The new club, which will play its home games in Ljubljana, has already made quite clear to everyone that it will have the highest possible ambitions. And just by looking at their roster you will see that Cedevita Olimpija will definitely play an important role in the upcoming ABA League season.

The team management decided to appoint Slaven Rimac as the new head coach. Former Cedevita head coach has brought several of his players with him, so Filip Krušlin, Andrija Stipanović and Edo Murić have become the new players of the Ljubljana based team. At the same time, youngster Petar Vujačić arrived from Petrol Olimpija.

With Rimac at the bench and Krušlin, Stipanović, Murić and Vujačić already in the team, Cedevita Olimpija began the search for the newcomers and so far they have signed eight of them. Jaka Blažić, Saša Zagorac and Mirko Mulalić, all former players of Petrol Olimpija, have returned to Ljubljana to join this ambitious new project. Martin Krampelj finished his 4-year NCAA journey and signed with the Dragons, while a two-time ABA League champion Marko Simonović also accepted the offer to join Cedevita Olimpija. Finally, the last three newcomers are the Americans – Ryan Boatright (former player of Cedevita), Mihael Hopkins and Codi Miller-McIntyre.

Together they form a pretty interesting roster, which is more than capable of achieving very good results. And be quite sure that Cedevita Olimpija will aim for the Playoffs already in their first ABA League season.
