Story of the game: Belgrade will host plenty of New Year's parties as always, but this year, perhaps the best one will come one day earlier that usual. Because on the 30th December, in Aleksandar Nikolić Hall, Crvena zvezda mts will host Budućnost VOLI! And it will be a party for 7,000 people…
No one could have probably wished for a better end of the year in ABA League. Crvena zvezda mts and Budućnost VOLI are the last season’s finalists, they are both currently placed in the Playoffs zone and they both have the highest possible ambitions in 2019.
The only thing that makes difference between them at this moment is their current form. While Crvena zvezda mts is the only undefeated team in the league with 12 consecutive wins in the regular season, Budućnost VOLI have suffered two defeats in a row in ABA, while on top of that the visitors faced 4 consecutive defeats in EuroLeague.
In the first part of the season, Zvezda stormed through Podgorica, beating Budućnost by 87:71.
Match-up in focus: Joe Ragland has been probably the most important player for Crvena zvezda mts in the ongoing season, while this time he will face Budućnost VOLI newcomer Norris Cole, who is about to make his debut in ABA League. On Friday evening, Cole was the best player of Budučnost VOLI in the EuroLeague match against Bayern Munich, scoring 27 points.
