As a part of sporting society Budućnost from Podgorica, the basketball club today named Budućnost VOLI was founded in 1949. At first, the club competed in the local competitions but in the 1980, it has won promotion to the first Federal League of Yugoslavia. The golden age of Budućnost VOLI dawned in the 1990's when they were a part of the first Federal League of Serbia and Montenegro, one of the strongest competitions in Europea at that time, and won three national championship and three national cup trophies.
