ABA League Round 1, Sunday, 6.10.2019:

BUDUĆNOST VOLI - ZADAR

Where? Sports Center Morača, Podgorica

When? 18:00

Story of the game: When the regional league started back in 2001, Zadar had a lot of success in games against Budućnost VOLI which were played in Podgorica. In the first years of the competition Zadar scored 3 wins out of 4 games played in Sports Center Morača,. But then everything changed. Zadar haven’t defeated Budućnost away since 2006!

During that period Budućnost VOLI scored 11 consecutive home wins against their old rivals, while this Sunday they will host Zadar in the opening round of the new season.

Both teams have made a lot of changes in their rosters during the summer, therefore this match will be about which side is in better shape at the start of the new season. Speaking about roster changes, it is interesting to mention that Luka Božić, one of the best players of Zadar in the past two years, has completed a transfer to Budućnost VOLI just a few days ago and he will be able to play for the Blue squad in the upcoming game.

Match-up in focus: Scott Bamforth has showed so far that he might be the leading scorer of Budućnost VOLI in the 2019/20 season. He had some impressive displays during the preseason and at the 2019 ABA Super Cup, while this will be the first time for him to play an official game in front of Podgorica crowd. On the other side, Zadar’s newcomer Bryon Allen was also pretty good during the preseason and we are all eager to see him in action for the first time in some official ABA game.

Head to head in the regional league: In total 19:11; In Podgorica 12:3.
