ABA League Round 7, Tuesday, 16 March 2021:

ZADAR – BUDUĆNOST VOLI

Where? Krešimir Ćosić Arena, Zadar

When? 16:00

Story of the game: In the postponed game of the seventh round of the ABA League season, Zadar will be hosting Budućnost VOLI in Krešimir Ćosić Sports Hall. Which team will grab the win?

It is a game of exceptual importance for both squads, that both have plenty to fight for. Right now Zadar have 6 triumph on their record, just as many as Krka and Split, two more than the 13th placed Borac, with the latter three still having their Round 21 games scheduled to play. So everyone understand that winning is a must for them in order to escape to the safer zone, away from the bottom of the standings.

On the other side, Budućnost VOLI are still in the middle of the Playoffs race with their 15:3 record and it is clear that right now they cannot afford to be defeated in case they wish to continue on the right path in their battle for the Top Four.

Speaking of the current shape of both squads, it is clear, that Budućnost VOLI are expected to top Zadar. They have won 5 games in a row recently in the ABA League, while on the other side, Zadar are on a 3 games long winless streak, having won 2 of their last five games. Budućnost VOLI have also prevailed convincingly over the Dalmatians the last time the two sides have met, recently in the Round 20 (98:75).

However, the magic of basketball is that not always those teams that are expected to win easily, prevail in the end. So watch the game to find out, which of the two teams will come out on top this time.

Match-up in focus: Perhaps the main focus will be on the battle in the paint, where Chinanu Onuaku and Willie Reed will battle head to head. In the previous round, FMP managed to stop Onuaku and that resulted in their win. Can this time be the same? Both big guys are currently the top rebounders of their respective squads, with Onuaku averaging 7.5 rebounds per game and Reed 5.5. Onuaku is also dominant when it comes to scoring, as he is hitting 14.2 points per game. Willie Reed’s contribution in scoring is not a crucial one for Budućnost VOLI, though, with his average of 7.9 points per game.

Head to head in the regional league: 12:21, In Zadar 9:7.
