Game recap: What a game in Laktaši! Igokea have won the thriller vs. Borac thanks to James Robinson III who made the key 2-pointer in the final moments of the 4th quarter.

AdmiralBet ABA League is well-known for its thrilling game-endings and we got one of those already in the opening round of the new season. Igokea and Borac have played a truly fantastic match in which both sides showed some high-quality basketball.

Igokea were constantly in front during the first half, however then Borac took over the lead in the 3rd quarter and at one moment the visitors were even up by a double-digit lead. However, the Čačak crew failed to keep that lead until the end. The home side managed to get back into the game by making a 13:2 run early in the 4th quarter, while at the end it was James Robinson III who decided the winner in this instant classic.

Key moments: When Borac new point guard Lautaro Lopez scored a very important lay-up to tie the score at 89:89, Igokea head coach Dragan Bajić called a time-out. His team had exactly 11 seconds to try scoring the game-winning basket and Bajić decided to put his trust in James Robinson III who returned to the club this summer. Robinson took the ball and then pulled up for a long 2-pointer with Borac tallest player Ivan Marinković in front of him… And Robinson made the shot – 91:89! With less than 3 seconds left on the game clock, Borac tried to make something in the remaining time, but Hunter Hale’s half-court shot was not good.

Man of the match: There is no doubt here. James Robinson III marked his second Igokea debut by scoring the game-winning shot, while on top of that he was also the top scorer in the winning team with 15 points. Robinson will certainly remember this Saturday night for a long time.

Can’t trick the stats: At the end, that one shot made the difference tonight. But, that was just the final of many problems Borac had defensively in this match. The Čačak crew conceded 91 points in Laktaši and their defense has to be better in the following games if they want to beat the best teams in the league.
