Game recap: In front of their devoted fans in Jane Sandanski Arena in Skopje, MZT Skopje Aerodrom have prevailed over SC Derby. This way, they have grabbed their maiden win of the 2022/23 AdmiralBet ABA League season and, at least for some time, escaped the very bottom of the league standings. They have also tied themselves in the standings with their rivals of the day, as both MZT and SC Derby now hold a 1:3 record after four rounds are behind them this season.

Key moments: It has been a close game in the first half and MZT Skopje Aerodrom were trailing all until the final seconds of the first half of the game, when Mike Caffey scored a spectacular buzzer-beating three-pointer just before the big break, to give his team the 47:46 lead. This seemed to have given a huge boost to the confidence of the home side’s players, as they went on the 13:2 run at the start of the second half, which put them up 60:48 midway through the third quarter. As it turned out later in the game, this has been decisive for the outcome of the game in the end.

Man of the match: Mike Caffey did not only create the play of the game, but has also led MZT Skopje Aerodrom to the win with his high-quality performance. He had 22 points, 7 assists,  4 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block and a valuation of 26. He is our man of the match!

Can’t trick the stats: MZT Skopje Aerodrom simply had a better assists/turnovers ratio that their opponents this time. While MZT had 22 assists and only 9 turnovers, SC Derby had 18 assists and 12 turnovers. This might have been decisive this time in the battle for the win.
