Game recap: In the opening game of the AdmiralBet ABA League Round 16, Zadar have prevailed over Cibona at home in their Krešimir Ćosić Arena. For Zadar, this is the 9th win of the AdmiralBet ABA League season, and with a 9:7 record after 16 rounds played, they will be placed just on the edge of the Playoffs Zone. On the other side, Cibona remains in the danger zone near the bottle of the standings with a record of 2:14, with just one win more than Mornar-Barsko zlato at the moment, with the latter still having to play their Round 16 game, against Budućnost VOLI.
Key moments: Zadar have been the better of two squads throughout this clash and they have led by 6 points after the opening quarter already, while pulling away for good in the second quarter. The key period came between the 8th and 12th minute of the game, when Zadar made a 10:1 run, with which they pulled away by 13 points (28:15). Cibona did not manage to threaten Zadar’s lead anymore after this moment on.
Man of the match: Tyler Wahl has been a dominant force on court, as he led his Zadar to the big derby win over Cibona. He finished the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and a valuation of 31. He is our man of the match!
Can’t trick the stats: Rebounding, passing, turnovers, that’s where Zadar have been a better team than Cibona and even though the visiting side was significantly better in the category of field goal scoring percentage, it has simply not been enough to top the Dalmatian squad on the road this time.
