Game Recap: Budućnost VOLI defended their home court in Round 3 of the Top 8 stage, defeating U-BT Cluj-Napoca in Podgorica 94:89 after a thrilling and hard-fought encounter.
The two teams met again just a few days after their EuroCup clash on Wednesday, when U-BT Cluj-Napoca celebrated in Podgorica and advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition. This time, however, in the AdmiralBet ABA League, Budućnost VOLI responded in front of their fans and managed to secure an important victory.
Budućnost VOLI have therefore improved their season score to 15-4, while U-BT Cluj-Napoca dropped to 10-8.
Key Moments: The home side started the game strongly and managed to create a double-digit lead early in the match, but the visitors refused to give up. Despite spending most of the night trailing by around 10 points, Cluj-Napoca kept fighting and eventually made a big comeback in the fourth quarter, even taking over the lead at one point.
However, Budućnost VOLI quickly reacted and regained control in the crucial moments of the game. The key moment came two minutes before the end, when Rasheed Sulaimon knocked down a big three-pointer to put the home side in front 85:82. Shortly afterwards, Sulaimon delivered another decisive play by scoring a tough and-one, extending Budućnost VOLI’s lead to 88:84 and giving his team a strong push toward victory.
Man of the Match: The man of the match was undoubtedly Rasheed Sulaimon, who not only made those clutch plays in the closing minutes but also finished the game as the team’s top scorer with 23 points, marking his best performance of the season.
