INTERVIEW: Suad Šehović, the MVP of October

We have received the name of the first MVP of the month of the 2015/16 season and it is Budućnost VOLI captain Suad šehović, who was an integral piece in the puzzle of head coach Igor Jovović, who led his team to the first place after one month and eight rounds played this season.

Suad šehović, the captain of Budućnost VOLI has been chosen for the MVP of October in the ABA League, the month in which the team, that he led on court, has proven dominance in the regional competition and anchored itself at the very top of the standings after eight rounds played, as the only team with only one defeat suffered - and it happened against the last season"s regional league champion Crvena Zvezda Telekom.

šehović is not only formally the captain of the Blues from Podgorica, but has also proven himself to be a key piece in the puzzle of head coach Igor Jovović.

He has demonstrated his versatility on court by averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1 assist per game this season and has been a perfect role-model for his team-mates when it comes to effectiveness, rationality and fighting spirit during the games. His average valuation of 15.75 makes him the most efficient player from Morača and places him among the most efficient individuals this season in the ABA League.

We bring you the interview with the player.

Budućnost VOLI is at the first place of ABA League after 8th round, and you have been named the best player of October. Did you expect such a good start of the season?

„We have completed our team late, which made some aspects of our game not the way we wished them to be, but we were winning games. As time passes, we are playing beter and better, keep looking better on court and I believe that we are deservedly at the top of the standings. We expected to be near the top, but perhaps not at the very peak, so the feeling is truly amazing! Regarding the individual efficiency I can say that for sure it feels good and I am surprised to be selected, but in general the most important is the team"s success and the position in the standings. The concept of the team is that in every single game another player stands out and I believe that this is the greatest strength of this team, since we are not leaning on just a few players, but all of us can pose problems for the opponents. I could not have achieve this award in case I did not have such teammates and coaching staff, so I am grateful to them.”

The atmosphere inside the locker room is obviously excellent. Who is the guy, who is responsible for jokes in the team?

"The atmosphere is truly tremendous. We spend time together even outside the arena and locker room and this is what makes us more connected and gives more positive energy to us. Usually the older players are those who are responsible for joking, but even the youngest are not bad at it and tell us some anecdote from time to time."

You have spent three seasons in the club. What is the thing that makes this team different from the other ones? Who do you see as main trophy contenders after four rounds played?

"Perhaps this team is different from the previous ones, since every player has his role. Now young players are not just numbers on the team, but contribute to team"s and club"s success with their performances and attitude. We are connected and know that one without another we cannot do anything. This is how things work around here.

The most pleasant surprise is Mega Leks, which is currently placed at the second spot and already has a lot of realistic chances to find itself amongst top four teams. But the same goes for some teams from the middle of the standings, which will not give up their hopes. Cedevita, Crvena Zvezda Telekom and us have play-off ambitions, but I believe that there will be some upsets."

Your brother Sead returned to Budućnost VOLI last summer. What is the feeling like to play with your own brother in the same team? You already used to play together in Bosna Sarajevo.

"Of course it is better to play with him, than against him. This is not the first time for us to play together. After Bosna we used to play together in the national team and it is a good, but at the same time weird feeling. We are used to it, though."

Even though both of you were born in Montenegro, you gained your full affirmation playing ABA League for Bosna. How did it happen for you to move to Sarajevo and how did you feel in BiH capital?

"After good performances in the club"s and national team"s youth categories, we received an invitation to go to Bosna for a try-out, which both Sead and I have passed. We spent beautiful years in Sarajevo and I have only the best memories of that city and KK Bosna."

In case you had an opportunity to bring any former teammate to your current team, who would you pick?

"I played with many excellent players and it is difficult to choose only a single one. I belive that the players that compose the current Budućnost VOLI squad deserve to be here and that this is the team for great triumphs, while the results are the ones to confirm it!"

In the final part of last season you had an amazing support of your fans. They have obviously recognized your good performances and results and started returning to Morača. How do you see it and do you have any message for your fans?

"Throughout all of these years, fans have been showing us support and pushing us forward, when it was toughest. In moments, when we played poorly and were losing games, they used to believe in us and were there for us. Remember last season, when we returned from Zagreb after two defeats and they waited for us at the airport and welcomed us with a song. Even when we lost the semi-final series against Cedevita, they stayed there, kept believing in us and the attendance figures in our arena this season confirm this. I hope that with time the arena will be even more filled and that with our games and relentlessness, we will deserve it. For sure we play better when they are there for us and support us!"

INTERVJU: MVP oktobra, Suad šehović

Nakon završetka osmog kola, dobili smo ime prvog MVP igrača meseca za sezonu 2015/16 i to on je kapiten Budućnosti VOLI Suad šehović, koji je bio ključni igrač u sastavu, na putu do prvog mesta nakon mesec dana i osam kola odigranih ove sezone.

Suad šehović, kapiten Budućnosti VOLI, izabran je za MVP oktobra u ABA ligi. U tom mesecu ekipa, koju je predvodio na parketu, pokazala je dominaciju u regionalnom takmičenju i popela se na sam vrh tabele nakon osam odigranih kola kao jedina ekipa sa samo jednim porazom - koji je doživela protiv nikog drugog nego šampiona prošle sezone regionalne lige Crvene zvezde Telekom.

šehović nije samo formalni kapiten plavih iz Podgorice, nego se i istakao kao ključni igrač u sistemu trenera Igora Jovovića.

Na parketu demonstirao je svoju mnogostranost time što je u proseku postizao 12,6 poena, 5,1 skok, 1,3 ukradene lopte i 1 asistenciju po meču u dosadašnjem toku sezone i time postao odličan uzor svojim saigračima, kada su u pitanju efektivnost, racionalnost i borbenost tokom utakmica. Budućnost VOLI je na prvom mestu ABA lige posle 8. kola, a vi ste proglašeni za najboljeg igrača meseca oktobra... Da li ste očekivali ovako dobar start sezone?

"Kasnili smo sa kompletiranjem ekipe, pa samim tim igre u početku nijesu bile onakve kako smo željeli, ali smo dobijali. Kako vrijeme odmiče sve smo uigraniji i bolje izgledamo na terenu i mislim da smo zasluženo na prvom mjestu u dosadašnjem dijelu sezone. Očekivali smo da budemo u vrhu, ali bas na čelu lige možda i nijesmo, i osjećaj je zaista odličan! Sto se tiče individualnog učinka - sigurno da prija i da sam iznenađen izborom, ali ukupno je dosta važniji ovaj ekipni i pozicija na tabeli. Koncept ekipe je da u svakoj utakmici drugi pojedinac iskoči, i mislim da je to snaga ove ekipe, jer se ne oslanjamo na par igrača, već svako od nas može napraviti probleme protivniku. Sve ovo ne bih uspio bez saigrača i stručnog štaba tako da im se ovom prilikom zahvaljujem."

Atmosfera u timu je očigledno na najvišem mogućem nivou. Ko je glavni zadužen za šale u svlačionici?

"Atmosfera je stvarno na vrhunskom nivou, družimo se i van terena i svlačionice, i to dosta doprinosi jačoj povezanosti i dobroj energiji među nama. Obično su za sale zaduženi stariji igrači, mada ni mlađi ne zaostaju-nekad nas prekinu i uskoče sa nekom anegdotom!"

U klubu ste već tri godine, po čemu se ovaj tim izdvaja od prethodnih? Koga vidite nakon 4 kola kao glavne konkurente za titulu?

"Pa, možda je ovaj tim drugačiji od prethodnih godina jer svaki igrač ima funkciju, sada mladi igrači ne popunjavaju samo mjesto u timu ,već svojim igrama i ponašanjem doprinose rezultatu i uspjehu kluba. Povezani smo i znamo da jedan bez drugog ne možemo ništa napraviti i tako funkcionišemo!

Najprijatnije iznenađenje je Mega Leks koji se nalazi na drugoj poziciji i već ima dosta realnih šansi da se nađe među prve četiri, uz ekipe sa sredine tabele koje se neće predavati. Cedevita, Crvena zvezda Telekom i mi smo tu sa ambicijama za plej-of, ali mislim da će nekih iznenađenja biti."

Vaš brat Sead se vratio u Budućnost VOLI prošlog leta. Kako je osećaj igrati sa rodjenim bratom u istom timu? Već ste igrali zajedno u sarajevskoj Bosni.

"Pa sigurno da je bolje igrati sa njim, nego protiv njega. Nije prvi put da igramo zajedno, poslije Bosne dosta puta smo igrali u reprezentativnim selekcijama i posljednjih godina u A reprezentaciji nastupamo zajedno, tako da je to jedan dobar, ali u istom trenutku i čudan osjećaj, mada smo navikli."

Iako ste obojica rođeni u Crnoj Gori ste afirmaciju stekli igrajući ABA ligu u redovima Bosne. Kako je uopšte došlo do toga i kako ste se osećali u Sarajevu?

"Poslije dobrih partija u mladjim kategorijama i reprezentativnim selekcijama, stigao je poziv da dodjemo na probu koju smo prošli i Sead i ja. Proveli smo prelijepe godine u Sarajevu, i divne uspomene me vežu za taj grad i KK Bosnu."

Kada biste mogli da dovedete u klub jednog bivšeg saigrača, koga biste izabrali?

"Igrao sam sa dosta dobrih igrača i teško je izabrati samo jednog. Mislim da su momci koji čine sadašnji tim Budućnosti VOLI zasluženo tu i da je ovo ekipa za velike pobjede, a i rezultat tome svjedoci!"

U finišu prošle sezone ste imali sjajnu podršku navijača. Publika je očigledno prepoznala dobre igre i rezultate i počela da se vraća u Moraču. Kako gledate na to i da li imate neku poruku za vaše navijače?

"Publika nam svih ovih godina daje potporu i "gura" nas naprijed onda kad je najteže. I u trenucima kada nismo igrali najbolje i kada smo gubili, vjerovali su u nas, bili tu.. Sjetite se prošle godine, kada smo se vratili iz Zagreba poslije dva poraza, dočekali su nas na aerodromu uz pjesmu. Cak i kada smo izgubili majstoricu ostali su uz nas, nastavili su da nam vjeruju, sto pokazuje popunjenost sale ove godine. Ja se nadam da ce vremenom sala biti još punija, da ćemo mi igrama i borbenošću to zaslužiti, a sigurno je da igramo dosta bolje kada su tu uz nas i bodre nas!"
