Olimpija's wait on new win is over

Union Olimpija have rolled over Metalac Farmakom at home in Stožice Arena and have ended their 5-games long winless streak. The guests in trouble after losing the third contest in a row.

Game recap: Union Olimpija are back on winning path after the home game against Metalac Farmakom, in which they have ended their five games long streak without a triumph in the ABA League. On the other hand, this is the third defeat of the guests from Valjevo in a row in the competition, which keeps them in the danger zone for the possible relegation. Not even the 17 points scored by each Tomislav Gabrić and Boris Bakić could help them to come out on top.

Key moments: Union Olimpija was ahead ever since the opening quarter which they won by 12 points. However, in the final period, Metalac Farmakom managed to cut their deficit to only four points with three minutes remaining on the clock (64:60). That's when Luka Rupnik stepped up - scored a three pointer, assisted Miha Lapornik for his three pointer and scored a 2-point shot in the following three offensive posessions which took Olimpija ahead by 11 again with 2 minutes remaining and the game was decided.

Man of the match: Luka Rupnik has deserved himself the man of the match honour not only thanks to his scoring contribution, since he was the top scorer of the game with 17 points. He also delivered 8 assists and grabbed 2 rebounds and most importantly - took the matters into his own hands when it was needed the most and provided the final push for his team in order to obtain the victory.

Can't trick the stats: Union Olimpija played as a true team this time and this was the fact that seperated themselves from Metalac Farmakom. The number of 23 assists in comparison with 13 of Metalac says it all.
